Jaguars Activate DE Dante Fowler From PUP List

According to Make Kaye of First Coast News, the Jaguars have removed DE Dante Fowler Jr. from their physically unable to perform list on Saturday.

I’m just happy to see him back to start playing,” said Jaguars HC Doug Marrone said. “Obviously, he’s worked hard to get back, strengthening and everything, and we’ll return him to practice. He’ll come back out and we’ll work him there. I’m excited to see him. He’s put in a lot of work and we’ll see him on the field and see what he can do.

This was really just a procedural move for the Jaguars. However, if he remained on the list for Week 1, he would miss the first six games of the season.

Fowler was recently suspended one game for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

Fowler, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2015. He is entering the final year of his four-year, $23.5 million fully guaranteed contract and is set to earn a base salary of $3,638,214 for the 2018 season.

The Jaguars declined Fowler’s fifth-year option a few months ago.

In 2017, Fowler appeared in all 16 games for the Jaguars and recorded 21 total tackles, eight sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and scored one defensive touchdown. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 93 overall edge defender out of 106 qualifying players.
