Jaguars Sign OT Kelvin Beachum To A One-Year, $4.5M Deal With A Four-Year Option

Update:

Ian Rapoport reports that the Jaguars have signed LT Kelvin Beachum to a one-year, $4.5 million deal that includes a four-year option worth $40 million.

Beachum is coming off of an ACL injury, so this is clearly Jacksonville looking to protect themselves while including plenty of incentive for Beachum to put together a solid 2016 season.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter, citing a league source, reports that the Jaguars have reached an agreement with OT Kelvin Beachum.

Last night, reports said that the Jaguars tried to prevent Beachum from leaving Jacksonville before a deal was done, so they were clearly working to get him under contract.

Beachum reportedly drew interest from the Seahawks, Jets, Ravens and Steelers, as well.

Beachum, 26, played out the final year of his four-year, $2.146 million rookie contract, which includes a base salary of $1.542 million and was among the best available offensive tackles in this year’s free agent class.

Unfortunately for Beachum, he was placed on season-ending injured reserve just over a month into the season. The two parties discussed a contract extension before the start of the regular season, but couldn’t reach an agreement.

In 2015, Beachum appeared in all five games for the Steelers.

We had him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
