Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, citing a league source, reports that the Jaguars have claimed RB Bernard Pierce off of waivers from the Ravens.

  • According to Wilson, the Jaguars were just one of a few NFL teams that expressed interest since he was waived on Wednesday.

Baltimore waived Pierce just a few hours after the news broke that he had been arrested and charged with DUI.

Jacksonville has been in the market for another running back, but they missed on DeMarco Murray and hadn’t added anyone in free agency before this.

Pierce, 23, has one year remaining on his four-year, $2,655,500 rookie contract, which includes a base salary of $660,000 for the 2015 season.

In 2014, Pierce ran for 366 yards on 93 carries (3.9 YPC) to go along with two receptions for 13 yards receiving and two touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing just 160 snaps, even though they were in desperate need of running back help to start the season.
