It’s a good fit for me for a lot of reasons, special teams being the primary reason. I also look at it as an opportunity to showcase my abilities as an offensive weapon, too,” Paul said.

Ryan O’Hallaron reports that the Jaguars are closing in on a deal with Redskins free agent TE Niles Paul.

Paul, 28, is a former fifth-round pick of the Redskins back in 2011. He just finished a three-year, $6 million contract that includes $2.25 million guaranteed with the Redskins and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2017, Paul appeared in 14 games for the Redskins and recorded 13 receptions for 94 yards receiving (7.2 YPC) and no touchdowns.
