Jaguars Sign DT Roy Miller To A Four-Year, $16.25M Extension

Update:

The Jaguars officially announced that they have signed DT Roy Miller to a four-year contract extension.

Miller’s new contract extension is a four-year deal worth over $16.25 million, according to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports.

This agreement appears to be similar to the deal signed by Dolphins DT Earl Mitchell, who received a four-year contract worth $16 million and included $5 million in full guarantees, according to OverTheCap.com.

John Oesher of Jaguars.com reports that the Jaguars and DT Roy Miller have, in fact, reached an agreement on a contract extension.

  • Miller told reporters that his new contract will keep him in Jacksonville for four more years, per Hays Carlyon.

According to Oesher, Miller was very emotional when talking about his new extension with the Jaguars. Miller mentioned that he wants to finish what the team has started to build.

Ryan O’Halloran reports that the Jacksonville Jaguars are close to reaching an agreement on a long-term contract extension with DT Roy Miller

Miller, 27, is in the final year of his two-year, $4.5 million contract and will have made a base salary of $2.375 million for the 2014 season.

Miller is a former third-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent four season with the Bucs before signing on with the Jaguars as a free agent last March.

This year, Miller has recorded 31 tackles, one sack and a pass defense over the course of 14 games for the Jaguars. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 57 defensive tackle in the league out of 79 qualifying players due to a poor rating as a run-stopper and penalty issues.
