Jaguars DE Andre Branch To Miss A “Significant” Amount Of Time With MCL Sprain

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Saturday that DE Andre Branch will miss a “significant” period of time after he sustained an MCL sprain during their recent preseason game.

Branch had an MRI scheduled on his left knee and was seen sporting crutches after the game, so it was clear that he may have a serious knee injury.

Branch, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2012. He has yet to live up to his draft status, so this is an important season for him.

He has one year remaining on his four-year, $5,089,934 rookie contract that included a $2,141,768 signing bonus. Branch stands to make a base salary of $1,059,083 for the 2015 season.

In 2014, Branch appeared in nine games for the Jaguars and recorded 18 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, a recovery and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 13 defensive end in a 4-3 system out of 100 qualifying players.
