Jaguars DT Marcell Dareus Undergoing Core Muscle Surgery, Expected To Miss 4-6 Weeks

Update:

Ian Rapoport reports that Jaguars DT Marcell Dareus is having surgery today to repair a core muscle injury. Rapoport says it’s a straightforward procedure that has a very high rate of full recovery and generally requires 4-6 weeks to heal.

According to Ian Rapoport, Jaguars DT Marcell Dareus is receiving a second opinion on a core muscle injury to determine if he needs surgery to address it.

If Dareus does end up having the procedure, he would miss an estimated four to six weeks.

Dareus, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Bills back in 2011. He signed a massive seven-year, $103.2 million contract that included $60 million guaranteed with the Bills back in 2015 before being traded to the Jaguars in 2017 for a 2018 sixth-round pick.

Dareus later agreed to restructure the agreement with the Jaguars this past February and is owed $2.835 million in 2019 and $9.5 million in 2020.

In 2019, Dareus has appeared in six games and recorded 13 tackles, 0.5 sacks and one pass defense.
