Jaguars DT Marcell Dareus Facing Two Sexual Assault Lawsuits

Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports that Jaguars DT Marcell Dareus is facing two separate lawsuits in which he’s accused of sexual assault.

On Wednesday, news surfaced that Dareus is being sued by an unidentified woman, who claims that he sexually assaulted her and exposed her to a sexually transmitted disease (NFLTR).

However, Auman reports that the second incident occurred back in January of last year.

The plaintiff says she met Dareus at a downtown Tampa Bay club and was invested to an afterparty at the mansion being rented by Dareus. The lawsuit mentions that there were “10-12 strippers” and “30-40 persons in total” along with other unnamed NFL players with “alcohol, marijuana and cocaine open and visible” and “offered up to partygoers.”

According to the lawsuit, Dareus “grabbed her breast and attempted to put his hands between her legs” and she resisted his advancements and told him to stop. The woman had been drinking and “blacked out” but still recalled being taken down a hallway to the master bedroom. She woke up the next day and “began to immediately realize that there had been sexual physical acts upon her person.”

There is no record of criminal charges being filed and Dareus is due in court on August 9 for a motion seeking to dismiss the lawsuit.

Dareus, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Bills back in 2011. He signed a massive seven-year, $103.2 million contract that included $60 million guaranteed with the Bills back in 2015 before being traded to the Jaguars last year for a 2018 sixth-round pick.

Dareus stands to make base salaries of $9.92 million (2018), $8.33 million (2019), $12.35 million (2020) and $1.24 million (2021) over the remainder of the contract.

In 2017, Dareus appeared in 14 games for the Bills and Jaguars and recorded 28 tackles and two sacks.

We’ll have more regarding Dareus as the news is available.
