Jaguars Expected To Be Without RB Leonard Fournette Until Week 10

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette is expected to be out through Jacksonville’s Nov. 4 bye due to his lingering right hamstring injury.

Schefter says that Fournette’s injury issues are a major reason the Jaguars traded a fifth-round draft pick to the Browns for running back Carlos Hyde last week.

Jacksonville plans to employ a power running attack, but the injury to Fournette forced them to go in a different direction, which explains why they were willing to bring in Hyde, who is under contract for another two seasons beyond 2018.

Fournette, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2017. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $27.15 million contract that’s fully guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $1.69 million for the 2018 season.

In 2018, Fournette has appeared in one game and rushed for 41 yards on 9 carries (4.6 YPC) to go along with three receptions for 14 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding Fournette as the news is available.
