Jaguars Hire John DeFilippo As Offensive Coordinator

Update:

Jaguars HC Doug Marrone officially announced that they’ve hired John DeFilippo as their offensive coordinator on Wednesday.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jaguars are expected to hire former Vikings OC John DeFilippo as their new offensive coordinator.

DeFilippo also interviewed with the Cardinals for their offensive coordinator vacancy, but it appears as though the Jaguars proved to be his best option.

DeFilippo, 40, began his NFL coaching career with the Giants back in 2005. He spent two years with the Giants before the Raiders hired him as their quarterbacks coach in 2007.

After a brief stint with the Jets, DeFilippo returned to the Raiders and was later hired by the Browns as their offensive coordinator in 2015. Unfortunately, the Browns fired their coaching staff after one season and he later agreed to coach the Eagles quarterbacks last year.

The Vikings hired DeFilippo as their offensive coordinator back in February, replacing Pat Shurmur. However, he was fired midseason.

In 2018, the Vikings offense ranked No. 17 in total yards, No. 20 in points scored, No. 30 in rushing yards and No. 8 in passing yards at the time DeFillippo was let go.
