Jaguars G Luke Joeckel Suffered Major MCL Injury, Meniscus Tear & Possible ACL Tear

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that Jaguars G Luke Joeckel is undergoing knee surgery Thursday for major a MCL injury, a meniscus tear and a possible ACL tear.

The Jaguars officially placed Joeckel on injured reserve Tuesday, so it was clear that this could be a major knee injury.

Some had wondered if Joeckel could be a candidate to return, but this sounds like a season-ending injury, especially if there’s ACL damage.

Joeckel, 24, was taken with the No. 2 overall pick by the Jaguars back in 2013. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $21.2 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $3,296,127 for the 2016 season.

The Jaguars declined to pick up Joeckel’s fifth-year option back in May.

In 2016, Joeckel has appeared in four games for the Jaguars and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 44 guard out of 74 qualifying players.
