Jaguars Hosted OT Will Beatty For Visit & Offered Him A Contract, Eagles Also Interested

Update:

A source tells Ryan O’Halloran that the Jaguars brought in free agent OT Will Beatty for “just a workout” and added that signing him to a contract is not considered to be imminent at this point in time.

Jaguars HC Gus Bradley said that Beatty did a “nice job” during his workout.

“He did a nice job,” Bradley said. “For us, I’m sure there is a lot of speculation with what’s going on, but we have two [offensive tackles] out and we’re always going to compete and always bring guys in and just keep our options option. If something comes up later on in training camp or after the preseason, we just want to make sure we have our options open so it was more of a workout.

Tom Rock of Newsday reports that the Jaguars brought in veteran OT Will Beatty for a visit on Friday and offered him a contract.

  • According to Rock, Beatty and his representatives are currently mulling over the Jaguars’ offer.
  • Rock adds that the Eagles have also reached out to Beatty as well, given that they’re waiting to find out if Lane Johnson will be suspended 10 games. However, Beatty has yet to workout for the Eagles.

Beatty is one of the best offensive tackles still available at this point in the year. Although, there has been very little reported interest in him since he became available several months ago.

Beatty, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Giants back in 2009. He spent all six years of his career in New York before he was released in a move that freed up $4,175,000 in available cap space for the Giants.

Beatty’s 2015 season ended when tore his pectoral muscle while working in the weight room back in May of last year.

We have him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
