Jaguars Intend To Reach Out To QB Chad Henne Regarding A New Contract

Jaguars GM David Caldwell mentioned that he has already told impending free agent QB Chad Henne and his agent that will reach out to them before the start of free agency, per Ryan O’Halloran.

Caldwell added that he has no intention of reaching to any other unrestricted free agents before then.

This appears to be a pretty good indication that Jacksonville re-sign Henne at some point this offseason.

Henne, 28, would be a serviceable backup option for the Jaguars, but is clearly not a starter in the league. This season, Henne threw for 3,241 yards to go along with 13 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. According to Pro Football Focus, he rated as the worst qualifying player at the quarterback position this year.

Blaine Gabbert appears to be on the chopping block as there has been no indication that he remains a part of their plans moving forward.

Jaguars owner Shad Khan mentioned that it’s really no secret that they intend to draft a quarterback this year and added they may even take two.
