Jaguars Not Interested In Being Featured On Hard Knocks

A few years ago, the Jaguars came out and said that they were interested in being featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” but their feelings towards the show have apparently changed since GM David Caldwell was hired.

“Our reaction would be that we would try to defer,” Caldwell said in an interview with Pro Football Talk on NBC.

“But it wouldn’t be an ideal situation for us,” Caldwell said. “We take a lot of pride in our culture and we’re very particular on who we bring into the organization. So we’ve been able to build a lot of trust from our coaching staff to our players and they know, our players know we have their best interests at heart. It’s hard to build trust with cameras omnipresent.

NFL owners made the decision to enact a rule that would allow them to choose a team to appear on “Hard Knocks” if they are unable to find a franchise to volunteer.

If an NFL team has either hired a new head coach, made the playoffs at least one in the past two seasons, or appeared on the show in past 10 years then they would be eliminated from contention.

Based on this criteria, the Bears, Bills, Cardinals, Giants, Jaguars, Raiders, Rams, and Steelers are the eight candidates who can be forced to participate next year if no one volunteers ahead of time.
