- Joeckel will undergo surgery on his fractured ankle at some point in the near future.
- Jacksonville also placed FS Dwight Lowery on season-ending injured reserve with a concussion as well.
Joeckel’s injury isn’t actually all too common, but it’s at least positive news that he’s upbeat regarding his status for the coming years. The Jaguars are obviously greatly invested in him being a cornerstone left tackle.
Jaguars HC Gus Bradley told reporters following Sunday’s loss to the Rams that No. 2 overall pick LT Luke Joeckel is out for the season with fractured his ankle.
Couldn’t be worse timing for the Jaguars as they lose their left tackle of the future for the year less than a week after they sent Eugene Monroe to the Ravens.
Joeckel was rolled up on by a Rams player while run-blocking for Maurice Jones-Drew. Cameron Bradfield figures to take over as the team’s starting left tackle, but it would not be surprising to see them bring in some free agents next weeks.
