Jaguars Place Rookie LT Luke Joeckel & S Dwight Lowery On IR

Update:

The Jaguars have officially placed No. 2 overall pick LT Luke Joeckel on season-ending injured reserve, per Ryan O’Halloran.

  • Joeckel will undergo surgery on his fractured ankle at some point in the near future.
  • Jacksonville also placed FS Dwight Lowery on season-ending injured reserve with a concussion as well.

Luke Joeckel told reporters on Monday that his fractured ankle injury is neither “career-ending or career-threatening“, per John Oehser.

Joeckel’s injury isn’t actually all too common, but it’s at least positive news that he’s upbeat regarding his status for the coming years. The Jaguars are obviously greatly invested in him being a cornerstone left tackle.

Jaguars HC Gus Bradley told reporters following Sunday’s loss to the Rams that No. 2 overall pick LT Luke Joeckel is out for the season with fractured his ankle.

Couldn’t be worse timing for the Jaguars as they lose their left tackle of the future for the year less than a week after they sent Eugene Monroe to the Ravens.

Joeckel was rolled up on by a Rams player while run-blocking for Maurice Jones-DrewCameron Bradfield figures to take over as the team’s starting left tackle, but it would not be surprising to see them bring in some free agents next weeks.

  1. Should have an injury report on all first round draft picks. I know Cooper is out for the year for the Cardinals and now Joeckel.
