Jaguars Decline LT Luke Joeckel’s Fifth-Year Option

The Jacksonville Jaguars have declined to pick up LT Luke Joeckel‘s fifth-year option, according to Ryan O’Halloran.

The fifth-year option would have run the Jaguars $11.9 million in 2017, but was guaranteed only for injury and wouldn’t have prevented them from working on a long-term extension over the next year.

Joeckel, 24, was the No. 2 overall pick back in 2013. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $21.2 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $3,296,127 in 2016.

In 2015, Joeckel appeared in all 16 games for the Jaguars and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 50 offensive tackle out of 77 qualifying players.
