Jaguars Not Counting On WR Justin Blackmon Playing Next Season

Jaguars HC Gus Bradley told reporters on Friday that WR Justin Blackmon playing this season is “not something we’re counting on,” per Ryan O’Halloran.

Bradley added that he would be “relatively surprised” if Blackmon was playing for them in 2014.

Blackmon’s received an indefinite suspension back in November for what is believed to be a failed drug test. He also served a four-game suspension for substance abuse at the start of the 2013 season, so there are major concerns regarding the former No. 5 overall pick.

The Jaguars have previously said that they would welcome him back once he’s reinstated, and plan on treating him as a “luxury.”

Last year, Blackmon wound up playing in only four games for the Jaguars. He totaled 29 receptions for 415 yards receiving and a touchdown, which is pretty decent production in a short period of time.
