Jaguars Not In Trade Market For QB Help

Adam Schefter of ESPN, citing sources familiar with the team’s thinking, reports that the Jaguars are not considering a trade for a quarterback, despite recent speculation they could be willing to bring in competition for Blake Bortles.

League sources have told Schefter that Jacksonville will not be making a trade Eli Manning, Tyrod Taylor, Nick Foles or any quarterback who has come up in trade rumors.

In fact, Schefter says that the Jaguars believe the quarterback position is the least of their issues right now and they are instead focused on simply getting healthy.

Bortles, 26, was taken with the No. 3 overall pick by the Jaguars back in 2014. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $20,654,796 rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $3,236,565 for the 2017 season.

The Jaguars picked up his fifth-year option and will run them around $19,053,000 for the 2018 season, but elected to sign him to a three-year, $54 million contract worth up to $66.5 million with incentives back in February.

In 2018, Bortles has appeared in six games for the Jaguars and thrown for 1,674 yards while completing 61.2 percent of his passes to go along with nine touchdowns and eight interceptions. He has also rushed for 188 yards and one touchdown.
