Jaguars Place TE Julius Thomas & DL Jared Odrick On Injured Reserve, Activate OL Luke Bowanko

According to Ryan O’Halloran, the Jaguars have placed TE Julius Thomas and DL Jared Odrick on their injured reserve. The team also activated OL Luke Bowanko from their physically unable to perform list.

Thomas, 28, is a former fourth-round pick by the Broncos in the 2011 NFL Draft. He is in the second year of a five-year, $46 million contract that contained $24 million guaranteed and a $6 million signing bonus.

He went down with a back injury during Week 11, so it appears he was not showing signs of recovery.

In 2016, Thomas appeared in nine games for the Jaguars and recorded 30 receptions for 281 yards receiving and four touchdowns. ProFootballFocus rates him as the No. 26 overall tight end out of 63 qualifying players.

Odrick, 28, is a former first-round pick by the Dolphins in the 2010 NFL Draft. He is also in the second year of a five-year, $42.5 million contract that included $22 million guaranteed. He is set to make a base salary of $8 million this season.

Odrick has dealt with multiple injuries this season and missed time with an elbow injury from Week 2 until Week 6. He missed another two games before returning for Week 10, then sustained a shoulder injury during the next game.

In 2016, Odrick appeared in six games and recorded 12 total tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and one pass defense. ProFootballFocus rated him as the No. 89 interior defender out of 126 qualifying players.
