Jaguars Prepared To Draft A QB, Possibly Two

Jaguars owner Shad Khan recently mentioned that they “everybody knows we’re going to draft a quarterback – maybe two,” per Ryan O’Halloran.

“We have to get better at that [position],” Khan said, via the Florida Times Union. “…I think there’s no mystery that we’re going to be taking a quarterback and maybe two.”

Khan is right. The consensus view has been that the Jaguars are almost certain to select a quarterback in the first-round of the 2014 NFL Draft, which would be the second time they’ve done so in the past three years.

Previous reports have indicated that the Jaguars consider re-signing impending free agent QB Chad Henne in the coming months, but it appears as though Gabbert future is questionable at best.

Gabbert, 24, has a $2.011 million base salary in 2014, but has yet to give the Jaguars any indication that he can be their franchise quarterback moving forward.

Jacksonville has the No. 3 overall pick and is in prime position to get one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2014 draft class such as Teddy Bridewater, Blake Bortles and Johnny Manziel.

One speculative option to watch in the second-round could be Jimmy Garoppolo of Eastern Illinois.

We have the Jaguars selecting Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M in our new 2014 NFL Mock Draft that will be posted later today.
