Jaguars Prepared To Give Blaine Gabbert Another Season?

Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net writs that the consensus among those he spoke with at this year’s Senior Bowl was that the Jacksonville Jaguars will most likely give Blaine Gabbert another shot at proving he can be their guy.

Pauline mentions that there’s a chance that Jacksonville could target Arizona QB Matt Scott in the later rounds of the draft. Pauline adds that Scott is a favorite of Jaguars quarterbacks coach Frank Scelfo and two spent a “significant amount of time together” before this year’s Shrine Game.

The Jaguars new regime has already said that they intend to hold a quarterback competition this year, so there’s no guarantee that Gabbert will win the job next season. It would make sense to see the Jaguars take a flier on a late-round prospect versus signing another quarterback in free agency, assuming that they do want to give Gabbert another shot at being their starter.
