Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette Suspended One Game

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette has been suspended one game for violations of unsportsmanlike conduct and unnecessary roughness.

NFL VP of Football Operations Jon Runyan issued the following statement regarding Fournette.

“Sportsmanship is the cornerstone of the game and the League will not tolerate game-related misconduct that conveys a lack of respect for the game itself and those involved in it… Video of the incident shows that you were not a participant in the play and that you ran from your sideline to the opposite side of the field to insert yourself as an active participant in a fight. Once you entered the fight area, you struck a member of the opposing team. Your actions adversely reflected on the NFL and have no place in the game.”

Fournette was ejected in the third quarter of Sunday’s Week 12 game against the Bills for throwing punches with DE Shaq Lawson.

Jacksonville will turn to Carlos Hyde and T.J. Yeldon to handle the workload this weekend.

Fournette, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2017. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $27.15 million contract that’s fully guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $1.69 million for the 2018 season.

The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Jaguars to pick up in 2020.

In 2018, Fournette has appeared in five games and rushed for 314 yards on 90 carries (3.5 YPC) to go along with 14 receptions for 14 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
