Jaguars Re-Sign OL Brandon Thomas To Practice Squad, Release K Mike Meyer

The Jacksonville Jaguars have re-signed OL Brandon Thomas to the practice squad and released K Mike Meyer from the unit, according to Mike Kaye.

The Jaguars’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. RB Tim Cook (Injured)
  2. DE Hunter Dimick
  3. OL Avery Gennesy (Injured)
  4. TE David Grinnage
  5. OLB Carroll Phillips
  6. DT Darius Kilgo
  7. RB Brandon Wilds
  8. DB Charlie Miller
  9. WR Montay Crockett
  10. LB Brooks Ellis
  11. WR Jaelen Strong
  12. OL Brandon Thomas

Thomas, 26, is a former third-round pick of the 49ers back in 2014. He spent just over two years in San Francisco before he was traded to the Lions in return for WR Jeremy Kerley.

However, Detroit elected to cut him loose less than a week later and sign him to their practice squad. Thomas returned to the Lions on a future/reserve contract this past January but was, unfortunately, among their final roster cuts.

After a brief stint on the Lions’ practice squad, Thomas signed on with the Jaguars and has been on and off of their taxi squad ever since.

Thomas has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Meyer, 25, originally signed on with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa back in 2015. He was unable to make the Titans’ 53-man roster and wound up sitting out both the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

The Falcons signed him to a future/reserve contract this past January but was once again cut loose coming out of the preseason. Atlanta brought him back for a brief stint last month before he signed on with the Jaguars last week.

During his college career at Iowa, Meyer converted 45 of 58 field goal attempts (77.6 percent) and 100 of 102 extra point tries over the course of four seasons and 51 games.
