Jaguars Re-Sign OL Josh Wells

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Friday that they’ve re-signed OL Josh Wells to a new contract.

I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to return to Jacksonville, the organization that gave me my first shot in the NFL in 2014,” said Wells. “We as players feel that we’re in the process of building something special and I knew that I wanted to be a part of it. I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with Coach Marrone for the past two seasons and he’s been vital in my development as an offensive lineman, but also as a professional in this league. I look forward to celebrating with my wife, Morgan, our families and all of my teammates, and getting back to work this offseason to become the best player that I can be.”

Wells, 26, wound up going undrafted out of James Madison back in May of 2014 before signing a three-year, $1.53 million contract with the Jaguars.

Jacksonville elected to place Wells on injured reserve coming out of the preseason as they got their roster down to 53 players. Although, the Jaguars designated him for return and brought him back last November.

Wells was set to be a restricted free agent in the coming weeks.

In 2016, Well appeared in five games for the Jaguars.
