Jaguars Release Veteran LB Dan Skuta

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Tuesday that they’ve released LB Dan Skuta.

Skuta, 30, originally signed on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2009. He spent four years in Cincinnati before he signed a two-year contract with the 49ers in 2013.

After he played out that deal, the Jaguars signed him to a five-year, $20.5 million in 2015. Skuta was set to make a base salary of $4.1 million for the 2017 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Skuta will free up $4.1 million of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2016, Skuta appeared in 13 games for the Jaguars and recorded 18 tackles, no sacks, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 268 snaps last year.
