Jaguars Releasing Veteran DE Jared Odrick

The Jacksonville Jaguars have informed veteran DE Jared Odrick that he’s being released on Monday, according to his agent David Canter.

There had been speculation that Odrick could be a release candidate this offseason, so this doesn’t come as a huge surprise.

Odrick, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2010. He spent five years in Miami before he signed a five-year, $42.5 million contract with $22 million guaranteed with the Jaguars in 2015.

Odrick was set to make a base salary of $6.5 million for the 2017 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Odrick will free up $8.5 million of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2016, Odrick was limited to appearing in just six games for the Jaguars and recorded 12 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 91 interior defensive lineman out of 127 qualifying players.
