Jaguars Retain Nathaniel Hackett As Offensive Coordinator

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced that Doug Marrone has retained Nathaniel Hackett as the team’s offensive coordinator.

  • The Jaguars have also hired Marion Hobby as their DL coach.

We are excited to announce Nathaniel Hackett as our offensive coordinator and he will immediately be tasked with installing and implementing our offense this offseason,” Marrone said in a statement. “I have had the pleasure of working with Nathaniel for seven consecutive seasons and know firsthand how knowledgeable and passionate he is about winning.”

“After taking over as the play-caller in 2016, the offensive unit made a significant jump under the direction of Nathaniel Hackett,” Jaguars Executive Vice President of Football Operations Tom Coughlin said in a statement Wednesday. “Nathaniel comes from a coaching family and is truly ardent about the game of football, which is contagious to his players and the assistants. He has a long history of working alongside Coach Marrone and we are fortunate to have him on our coaching staff.”

This is interesting considering that reports had said that former 49ers HC Chip Kelly had a “good chance” of landing the job with the Jaguars.

Hackett clearly had the support of Marrone, given that they’ve spent a lot of time working together and it appears as though that support ultimately won out for him.
