Jaguars Sign C Stefen Wisniewski To A One-Year, $2.5M Deal

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Jaguars have agreed to a one-year deal with former Raiders C Stefen Wisniewski.

  • Aaron Wilson reports that Wisniewski’s one-year deal with the Jaguars is worth $2.5 million.
  • The agreement includes a $1.25 million salary, a $500,000 signing bonus, and $500,000 in play-time incentives.
  • Beyond that, Wisniewski will make $15,625 in per-game roster bonuses.
  • The contract includes an injury waiver.

Many expected to Wisniewski to be among the most sought after offensive linemen in this year’s free agent class, but he unfortunately recovering from offseason shoulder surgery after playing with a torn labrum last year.

Even so, a number of teams showed interest in Wisniewski including the Seahawks and Buccaneers with the Bears, Patriots, and Rams.

Wisniewski, 25, played out his four-year, $4,135,402 rookie contract and is, arguably, the best center still available in this year’s market.

Oakland used a second-round pick on Wisniewski back in 2011 and he has gone on top appear in 61 out of 64 total games. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 1041 snaps this season and rates his as the No. 22 center out of 41 qualifying players.

We had Wisniewski listed as the No. 52 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.

  1. Glad he got an opportunity, but I still say his greed led to an unfortunate departure when he belongs in silver and black. Oh well worked out good for us with Rodney so good luck! #RaiderNation
