Jaguars Sign DT Louis Nix To Futures Deal

The Jacksonville Jaguars officially signed DT Louis Nix to a future/reserve contract on Wednesday.

The Jaguars have now signed seven players to futures deals since their season ended including:

  1. TE E.J. Bibbs (NFLTR)
  2. DB Doran Grant
  3. G Nila Kasitati
  4. LB Raphael Kirby
  5. TE Gannon Sinclair
  6. OT Arturo Uzdavinis
  7. DT Louis Nix

Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and during training camp.

Nix, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Texans back in May of 2014. He was entering the second year of his four-year, $2,852,252 rookie contract when he was among the Texans’ final roster at the start of the season.

The Giants elected to claim him off of waivers at the start of last year and brought him back on a future/reserve contract this past January. However, he was cut loose as the Giants got down to 53 players coming out of the preseason.

Nix signed to the Redskins’ practice squad soon after only to waive him a few weeks into the season. He later caught on with the Jaguars.

In 2015, Nix appeared in four games for the Giants but did not record a single statistic.
