Jaguars Sign LB Joplo Bartu, Place RB Bernard Piece On I.R.

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced that they’ve signed LB Joplo Bartu to a contract following his workout on Monday.

  • The Jaguars also placed RB Bernard Pierce on season-ending injured reserve.
  • LB Sean Porter was signed to their practice squad.

Bartu, 25, signed on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Texas State back in May. He managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, and spent a few months with the team before he was placed on waivers a few weeks ago.

This season, Bartu has appeared in six games and recorded 11 tackles for the Falcons.

Pierce, 24, is in the final year of his four-year, $2,655,500 rookie contract that included a $555,500 signing bonus. He’ll make a base salary of $660,000 this season before testing the open market next year.

His 2015 season comes to an end with him appearing in seven games and rushing for 11 yards on six carries to go along with three receptions for seven yards receiving and no touchdowns.
