Jaguars Sign No. 4 Overall Pick RB Leonard Fournette

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed first-round RB Leonard Fournette to a four-year rookie contract, according to Ian Rapoport.

  • Rapoport adds that Fournette’s rookie contract does not include offset language.

According to OverTheCap.com, Fournette will receive a four-year contract worth $27,147,574, which includes a signing bonus of $17,883,688. The contract also has a fifth-year option for the team to consider in 2020.

Fournette, 22, was taken with the No. 4 overall pick by the Jaguars. While some liked Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey for his versatile skill set, many draft experts were sold on Fournette being the No. 1 running back prospect in this year’s draft and Jaguars clearly agreed with that assessment.

Fournette should be a day-one start for Jacksonville and should take some pressure off of QB Blake Bortles this season.

During his college career at LSU, Fournette has rushed for 3,380 yards on 616 carries (6.2 YPC) to go along with 41 receptions for 526 yards receiving and 41 total touchdowns over the course of 32 games.
