Jaguars Sign Seventh-Round Pick RB Storm Johnson

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced that they have signed seventh-round pick RB Storm Johnson out of the University of Central Florida.

Johnson does not possess any exceptional athletic traits, but he does have good size, surprising burst and the ability to break tackles.

Despite being the 20th running back selected in the draft, Johnson may have a good chance at receiving carries in his first year.  Jacksonville will pay RB Toby Gerhart $10.5 million over the next three years to serve as their feature back, but there is uncertainty behind him.  RB Jordan Todman and RB Denard Robinson have combined for 99 carries in their careers.

Johnson posted 1,139 yards on 231 carries, good for 5.3 yards per carry in his senior season.  He added 30 receptions for 260 yards and 17 total touchdowns.
