Jaguars To Waive Fifth-Round Pick DE Chris Smith

ESPN’s Adam Caplan reports that the Jaguars are expected to place fifth-round pick DE Chris Smith on waivers some time soon.

The Jaguars have him listed as their fourth-string right defensive end, so it’s not all that shocking to hear that they could move on without him.

Smith was highly productive at Arkansas, and likely fell to the fifth round because of his lack of size. During his four years at Arkansas, Smith recorded 122 tackles, 30.5 tackles for a loss, 21.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.

We’ll have to see if he clears waivers as he could be added to the team’s practice squad.
