Jaguars Tried Out QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson & WR Shaq Evans

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Jaguars tried out a number of players on Friday including: QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson, QB Shane Carden, WR Shaquelle Evans, and WR DeVaris Daniels.

The Jaguars have taken a look at other quarterbacks in recent days such as Matt Blanchard, so it appears as though they’re looking to add someone to their practice squad.

Bethel-Thompson, 27, originally signed on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Sacramento State back in 2011. He has bounced around quite a bit since he entered the league, which includes short stints with the Dolphins, Vikings and Patriots.

Bethel-Thompson was most recently with the Dolphins, but was waived just a few days ago as they made room for CB Jonathan Dowling.

Evans, 24, is a former fourth-round pick of the Jets last year. However, he unfortunately missed his rookie season due to a shoulder injury.

The Giants recently brought him in for a workout, so he’s at least on team’s radars as a potential option at receiver.

Evans has yet to appear in an NFL game.
