Jaguars Waive DB Marcus Ball From Practice Squad, Sign DB Doran Grant

The Jackson Jaguars officially signed DB Doran Grant to their practice squad on Monday and waived DB Marcus Ball from the unit.

The Jaguars’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. DT Richard Ash
  2. WR Rashad Lawrence
  3. WR Shane Wynn
  4. LB Sean Porter
  5. OL Jeremiah Poutasi
  6. TE Alex Ellis
  7. RB Bronson Hill
  8. OT Rashod Hill
  9. DB Akeem Davis
  10. DB Doran Grant

Ball, 29, signed as a free agent with the Argonauts back in February of 2012. He spent two years with the Argonauts and totaled  142 tackles, seven sacks, four interceptions, two returned for touchdowns and three fumble recoveries over this time.

New Orleans wound up signing him to a three-year contract in April of 2014 and Ball would go on to appear in 12 games and recorded 16 tackles for the Saints.

Ball later caught on with the Panthers last year but was, unfortunately, among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason. He was on and off of the Panthers active roster this year before signing on to the Jaguars’ practice squad a few weeks ago.

In 2016, Ball has been active for one game but has yet to record a statistic.

Grant, 23, is a former fourth-round pick of the Giants back in 2015. He was waived coming out of the preseason last year before later signing on to the Steelers’ practice squad.

Pittsburgh once again cut Grant loose coming out of the preseason and this time he signed on to the Bills’ practice squad. Unfortunately, the Bills waived Grant a few weeks into the season and he later signed on to the Giants’ practice squad.

New York elected to cut him loose last week.

In 2015, Grant appeared in three games but did not record a single statistic.
