Jaguars Waive S Calvin Pryor, Promote DE Carroll Phillips

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Saturday that they’ve waived S Calvin Pryor and promoted DE Carroll Phillips to their active roster, per John Oesher.

This is an interesting move from the Jaguars, considering that they designated Pryor to return from injured reserve a few weeks ago and just recently activated him.

Pryor, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Jets back in 2014. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $8.56 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $1,587,717 for the 2017 season.

The Jets declined to pick up Pryor’s fifth-year option this offseason and later traded him to the Browns in return for LB Demario Davis. Pryor was waived by the Browns a few weeks ago after he got into a fight with a teammate and he was later claimed by the Jaguars.

Unfortunately, the Jaguars placed him on injured reserve a few weeks into the regular season before recently activating him from the list.

In 2017, Pryor has appeared in two games and recorded one tackle and no interceptions.
