Jaguars To Address Maurice Jones-Drew’s Contract After Next Season?

Jaguars GM David Caldwell was asked what their plans were for RB Maurice Jones-Drew and his current contract situation.

“We’ll address that toward the end of the season,” said GM Caldwell, per John Oehser of Jaguars.com.

Jones-Drew, 27, was unable to play most of the 2012 season due to a “mid-foot fracture.” He held out prior to the start of the 2012 season for a new contract, but that didn’t turnout as he intended.

Jones-Drew has already said publicly that he has no plans to hold out for a new contract at any point during the offseason, which could help his chances of securing a long-term contract with the Jaguars new front office. By then, he would be 29, so it’s safe to assume that he’ll need to put together a solid season before they’ll even consider handing him sizable contract.
