Jaguars Worked Out 5 Players Including WR Lucky Whitehead & LB Ben Boulware

According to Howard Balzer, the Jaguars brought in five players for tryouts on Monday including WR/KR Lucky Whitehead.

The full list of tryouts for the Jaguars includes:

  1. LB Ben Boulware
  2. LB Carl Bradford
  3. LB Brooks Ellis
  4. LS Derek Hart
  5. WR/KR Lucky Whitehead

Whitehead, 25, signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic back in 2015. He was in the final year of his three-year, $1.585 million contract and set to make a base salary of $615,000 for the 2017 season when the Cowboys elected to move on from him, even though he had all charges against him dropped and the warrant for his arrest was rescinded in a legal matter that turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.

The Jets later claimed him off of waivers. Unfortunately, he was waived with an injury designation and later reverted to injured reserve before being waived with an injury settlement a few weeks later.

In 2016, Whitehead appeared in 15 games and caught three passes for 48 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He also rushed for 82 yards on 10 carries to go along with 394 kick return yards.

Boulware, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Clemson back in May. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Panthers cut him loose as they cut their roster down the 53 players.

The 49ers signed him to their practice squad at the start of the season, only to cut him loose a week later.

During his college career at Clemson, Boulware recorded 261 tackles, 26.5 tackles for a loss, eight sacks, five interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown, seven forced fumbles, and four pass defenses.
