Jaguars Worked Out Five Players Including DBs Elijah Shumate & Darius Hillary

Aaron Wilson reports that the Jacksonville Jaguars brought in five players for workouts on Monday including RB David Cobb, CB Darius Hillary, DB Rolan Milligan, DB Kevin Peterson and S Elijah Shumate.

Shumate, 22, wound up signing on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame back in May. He was in the first year of his three-year, $1.62 million rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season when the Bucs waived him with an injury designation.

Shumate later cleared waivers and reverted to their injured reserve list before being cut loose with an injury settlement a few weeks ago.

During his college career, Shumate recorded 168 tackles, a sack, a fumble recovery, two interceptions and 10 pass defenses.

Hillary, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin back in May. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but later signed on to their practice squad.

Cincinnati elected to cut him loose a few weeks ago.

Hillary has yet to appear in an NFL game.
