Jaguars WR Allen Hurns A Possible Trade Candidate?

Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union mentioned Wednesday that he could see the Jaguars making veteran WR Allen Hurns available for trade in the coming weeks.

Hurns has yet to appear in a preseason game this summer, even though he has participated in practice.

Given that Hurns stands to make sizable base salaries and is coming off of a down year, it’s unlikely he would net the Jaguars much in terms of draft compensation.

Hurns, 25, signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Miami back in 2014. He was in the final year of his rookie contract when the Jaguars signed him to a five-year, $40.6 million deal that included $20 million guaranteed last year.

Hurns stands to make base salaries of $7 million and $6.9 million over the next two years of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Hurns would free up $7 million of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2016, Hurns was limited to appearing in 11 games, totaling 35 receptions for 477 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 106 receiver out of 115 qualifying players.
