Jaguars WR Allen Robinson Focusing On Health, Not Contract Situation

Jaguars WR Allen Robinson says his main focus right now is still on getting back to 100 percent health and not his contract situation after he suffered a season-ending ACL tear last year.

“I don’t really know what is going to happen. I know there’s a lot of different scenarios,” Robinson said, via Michael DiRocco of ESPN. “Right now, my main focus is to kind of let my agent narrow down the scenarios and for me to get back at 100 percent. That’s the main focus right now for me. Again, I know I’ll be back at 100 percent and relatively soon. At the end of the day, I know all that is going to play out.

“I know the player that I am. I know the plays that I made. I know the plays I’m going to continue to make. From that standpoint, it doesn’t really bother me or I don’t really concern myself too much with that [the contract situation].”

Robinson will be one of the more interesting free agents to watch in the coming months, as he’s talented enough to be a No. 1 receiver for an NFL team, but the fact that he’s coming off of a major knee injury will impact the kind of contract offers he receives.

It’s possible that Robinson and his agent could opt for a one-year, incentive-based deal that will allow him to be paid well based on his production and give him the opportunity to test the free agent market again in 2019.

Robinson, 24, is a former second-round pick by the Jaguars in the 2014 NFL Draft. He played out the final year of a four-year, $3.510 million rookie contract and made a base salary of $898,755 for the 2017 season.

Robinson is now in position to test the open market for the first time in his NFL career.

In 2017, Robinson appeared in one game and caught one pass for 17 yards and no touchdowns.
