Update:

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that Jamaal Charles’ foot sprain is not serious and he’s expected to be fine moving forward.

HC Andy Reid told reporters that x-rays came back negative on Jamaal Charles’ foot, per Reid Ferrin.

  • Reid referred to the injury as a foot strain.

According to multiple media reports, Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles was forced to leave team practice Monday morning with an unknown injury.

  • Per Dave Skreeta, Charles was driven off the field in a cart during first team 11-on-11 drills.

While the nature of the injury is unknown, it is worth remembering that Charles’ 2012 season was cut drastically short in September when he tore his ACL, bringing an end to his year.

Under new head coach Andy Reid, his role will likely be heavily utilized. As a head coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, Reid emphasized the running backs in the passing game. Players like Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy were big cogs in the offense. It’s safe to assume Reid wants to use Charles in the same way.
