James Jones Believes He’d Be A Good Fit With Chiefs, Giants, Jaguars, & Seahawks

Free agent WR James Jones tells Sirius XM NFL Radio that there are a “bunch of teams” out there that would be a good fit for him.

  • Jones specifically mentioned the Chiefs, Giants, Jaguars, and Seahawks as teams that would make sense.
  • He added that he just wants to continue playing in the NFL, but admitted that it’s a waiting game.

Jones previously told Josina Anderson of ESPN that he has no intention of retiring and is still hoping to catch on with an NFL team before the start of the season.

“I’m not retiring. I still want to play,” Jones said. “If you need a wide receiver, come get me.

According to Jones, the Seahawks, Giants and Chiefs all made “preliminary inquiries” about him following his release from the Raiders close to a month ago, per Anderson.

It could be a little while before Jones gets another opportunity, but there will obviously be injuries which could prompt someone to bring him this summer.

Jones, 31, signed a three-year contract worth $10 million with the Raiders back in 2014. However, he released by Oakland in a move that cleared $3,433,333 in available cap space.

In 2014, Jones appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders and caught 73 passes for 666 yards receiving and six touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 89 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.

We have Jones listed as the No. 20 player in our Top 25 Best Available Free Agents list.
