The Green Bay Packers passing offense was on full display last Thursday but one receiver seemed to be missing from the teams game plan. James Jones wound up catching one pass for one yard on just a single target for the game. Not exactly what he may have been expecting after re-signing with the Packers during free agency.
“I don’t care about the ball at all, but I truly, truly want to be in the game plan. Everybody plays this game because they want to play,” Jones said. “I’m not selfish; I understand we’ve got a lot of weapons, so I’m not saying I want the ball every play. But I think I deserve to be on the field more than I was.”
Playing time is going to be as much of an issue as the amount of passes a player gets already is. Green Bay is loaded at receiver and Randall Cobb‘s breakout performance isn’t going to increase anyone’s playing. Tight end Jermichael Finley was only targeted four times and he’s considered to be the Packers best weapon. I can understand why Jones is concerned but there’s no easy solution to this situation unless someone goes down with an injury which is always a possibility.
