Jason Peters’ New Extension Could Be “Good News” For Branden Albert

Ian Rapoport mentions that the new extension signed by Eagles’ LT Jason Peters could be good news for Chiefs free agent LT Branden Albert who will be an unrestricted free agent in the coming weeks.

When you consider that there have already been numerous reports indicating that multiple teams have serious interest in Albert, and the fact that Peters will make an average base salary of $10 million in his new contract, it seems very likely that Albert could at least come close to Peters’ annual salary on the open market.

The other positive for Albert is the fact that Peters is currently 32 years old and has suffered a serious injury in the past two years, but was still able to secure a very respectable contract.

There has been some concern expressed regarding Albert’s age and back issues, but if Peters is able to get this kind of money, it should bode well for Albert given that there appears to be a competitive market for his services.

The Buccaneers, Cardinals and Dolphins have all been mentioned as potential options for Albert.

Albert, 29, was rated as the No. 29 offensive tackle in the league last year, according to Pro Football Focus. We have him listed as the No. 23 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
