Jason Peters Says He Plans To Play In 2018 Whether It’s For Eagles Or Another Team

Eagles veteran LT Jason Peters said Monday that he plans to return for the 2018 season whether it’s for Philadelphia or another team.

“They hadn’t asked me, but I’m going to be back,” Peters said when asked if he’s had any conversations with the Eagles about his future, via Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “Step out on a limb, if they don’t want me, I’m still [going] somewhere.”

Peters, unfortunately, suffered ACL and MCL tears back in October and was placed on injured reserve.

Regarding his rehab, Peters says it’s going good and he’s back to running.

“It’s going good. I’m like three months out. I’m back running,” Peters said. “I did like 845 [pounds] on the leg press the other day. So I’m getting back strong.

Peters says he’ll continue to play football for as long as he can.

I’m playing good,” Peters said. “It’s not like I’m out there giving up a bunch of sacks or playing sloppy. I love this game and I’m going to go as long as I can.

Peters, 36, originally signed on with the Bills as an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas back in 2004. He spent five years in Buffalo before joining the Eagles in 2009.

Peters is entering the second year of his three-year, $32.5 million contract that includes $15.5 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $7.75 million over the final two years of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Peters would free up $5,333,332 of available cap space while creating $6,333,334 in dead money.

In 2017, Peters appeared in seven games for the Eagles.
