JAX, CAR, DEN, OAK, DAL & MIA Among Teams In Trade Market For Backup QB

Jason La Canfora reports that there is still “a lot of chatter” going on right now around the NFL regarding backup quarterback options.

According to La Canfora, some of the teams in the market for a backup quarterback include the Jaguars, Panthers, Broncos, Raiders, Cowboys and Dolphins among others.

As for some trade candidates worth watching, La Canfora lists Robert Griffin III, Tom Savage, Mike Glennon and Josh Dobbs.

We’ve already seen Brett Hundley and Teddy Bridgewater get traded, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see some more deals completed in the coming days, as teams fill out their rosters.

Glennon, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $3.104 million rookie contract before signing a three-year, $45 million contract with the Bears that includes 18.5 million guaranteed last year.

The Bears elected to move on from him after just one season and he later signed a two-year $8 million contract with the Cardinals this past March.

In 2017, Glennon appeared in four games and threw for 833 yards while completing 66.4 percent of his passes to go along with four touchdowns and five interceptions.

Savage, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Texans back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.52 million contract and made a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season.

The Saints signed Savage to a one-year, $1.5 million deal back in March.

In 2017, Savage appeared in eight games and completed 56.1 percent of his passes for 1412 yards, five touchdowns and six interceptions. The Texans placed him on injured reserve after he suffered a scary concussion during their loss to the 49ers.

Dobbs, 23, is a former fourth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2017. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $2.99 million contract and set to make base salaries of $555,000 and $645,000 over the next two years of the agreement.

Dobbs has yet to appear in an NFL game.
