Jay Cutler Will Have Surgery, Bears Will Focus On The Running Game

The Chicago Bears have officially announced that QB Jay Cutler will undergo surgery to repair a fracture in his right thumb. Cutler has met with a few specialists and it has been determined that he will undergo surgery at some point this week.

Chicago will now turn to Caleb Hanie to lead them to a few victories while Cutler is out. The teams website is “hopeful” that Cutler will be able to return before the end of season so they’ll just need Hanie and the teams defense to carry them for a few more games.

Head coach Lovie Smith mentioned that the team will lean on their running game “even more” know that Cutler is out.

Looks like more carries for Matt Forte and possibly even Marion Barber.
