Jeff Fisher: Jared Goff Still Rams’ No. 2 Quarterback

Rams HC Jeff Fisher told reporters, per Lindsay Jones, Monday evening that rookie QB Jared Goff remains the team’s backup quarterback.

Adam Schefter reported over the weekend that the Rams could turn to Goff as their starting quarterback in Week 11 if Case Keenum struggles against the Jets.

Schefter mentioned that the Rams would ideally like to have Goff make his first NFL start at home, in front of a friendly crowd.

Goff, 23, was taken with the No. 1 overall pick by the Rams after they gave up a huge package of picks to trade up from No. 15 overall. Goff signed a four-year contract worth $27,937,672 that included a signing bonus of $18,518,308.

The contract will include a fifth-year option for the team to consider in 2019.

During his three-year college career at California, Goff threw for 12,195 yards while completing 62.3 percent of his passes to go along with 96 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.

We’ll have more regarding a quarterback change for the Rams as the news is available.
